NE1 Ltd supports the interests of 1,400 businesses in Newcastle City Centre and is working closely with its members across the city during the Coronavirus crisis to help mitigate the impact of lockdown on people and the economy.

The issue of the business rates anomaly was brought to NE1’s attention almost as soon as the Chancellor announced the support measures for Small and Medium sizes businesses last week.

Adrian Waddell, NE1 Chief Executive and the NE1 team were keen to bring this to the Government’s urgent attention.

NE1 is conscious that more will need to be done to support businesses as the realities of lockdown and the crisis continues and will be maintaining a dialogue between its local businesses and with local and central Government.
